Job Description

Cass County Government is seeking an equipment operator. Operators play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure we use every day.

BENEFITS

JOB DUTIES

Routine road maintenance, snow removal on roads and parking lots, road repair and mowing of ditches. Responsible for day-to-day inspection and assist with repair of equipment.

Operate a variety of equipment including backhoes, skid steers, dozers, loaders, motor graders, tandem axle trucks, snowplows, and other equipment used in maintenance and construction of roads. Perform a variety of manual labor activities in repairing roads and bridges.

This position requires reporting to work after hours, on weekends, and on holidays during emergency events. This job requires prolonged standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. This position will be based in West Fargo, ND.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED

1-3 years’ experience in operating heavy equipment.
Ability to take orders and resolve any problems.

JOB DUTIES

Assist in project preparation and design activities on in-house road, bridge, and drainage project designs. Activities include but are not limited to:

Collect survey data from topography such as location of physical objects direct elevations, cross sections, etc.
Staking of grades and control, and verifying staking and layout with construction plans
AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting of construction plans and survey plats
Estimating project quantities and costs
Document research


Assist in construction inspection, quality assurance, and project safety as related to compliance with contract administrative requirements. Activities include but are not limited to:

Receiving and verifying material quantities as construction materials are delivered and installed on the construction site
Ensure work and materials comply with specifications and applicable standards
Sampling and material testing for bituminous materials and aggregates
Field measurements and documentation of quantities as required by the contract
Office administrative activities including check of quantities and documentation, reports for progress and payment, and check of payrolls, etc.


Work independently and with staff to coordinate general office activities and the day to day operation of the department. Activities include but are not limited to:

Preparation of County highway maps
Preparation and updating of infrastructure databases
Work with GIS systems
Highway and bridge inspection
Assist in preparation of technical reports and bid documents; research and respond to routine inquiries from the general public.

The Civil Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems. Vector Control Director
The Vector Control Director leads the development and implementation of mosquito control efforts within the Williston Vector Control District.

Accounting/Payroll Coordinator
The Accounting/Payroll Coordinator performs various accounting, payroll, and administrative tasks in support of the Sheriff’s Office. This position provides significant support and administration of the department budget through duties such as processing invoices and expense vouchers, credit card reconciliation, expense tracking, and payroll review.

• Performs accounts payable duties including verifying and coding invoices, obtaining approval signatures, and submitting paperwork to the Finance Department

• Audits and approves department timesheets; reviews payroll reports and works with the appropriate department to solve discrepancies
• Assists in the preparation of the yearly budget; prepares budget reports; compiles annual budget requests; monitors and controls expenditures; identifies and resolves budget discrepancies
• Maintains a record of the Sheriff’s Office budget; consistently updates budget spreadsheet with all expenses and revenue to remain current; reconciles discrepancies found in records
• Tracks and maintains all grants awarded to the Sheriff’s Office; verifies data for accuracy and completeness
• Collects and verifies money from kiosks in the Law Enforcement Center; makes bank deposits
• Produces annual crime report as required by the Century Code
• Performs general office duties including answering phones, preparing correspondence, and using office equipment
• Assists with duties of other office staff as needed in their absence
• Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
Typical Qualifications
