Strategic Vision

Strategic Vision

Strategic planning is an essential component of how NDACo provides services to counties. We call it "Strategic Vision" because it is how we set our sights on an ever-renewing vision of the future for the Association's service to counties. Approximately every three years, the Board of Directors meets, along with select staff members and other guests, for a retreat to gauge our progress on initiatives from past Strategic Planning sessions and to set our future course. The key component and launching point of this effort is the Member Survey. The survey collects data and opinions from our members statewide. We thank all survey participants for their time and thoughtful help. Input from the surveys over the years has directly resulted in everything from minor adjustments to launching new programs and services.

The 2016 Strategic Vision Session kicked off by reviewing the recently conducted Member Survey. To see a summary of the survey results, including historic data from previous surveys, click the link below to download the presentation.

Highlights of 2016 Strategic Vision Session

Note: New to this year's process was the separation of internal and external goals. Internal goals address issues that affect our Association, while external goals address issues of concern to our members - the counties.

Internal Goal 1: The Executive Committee will develop a succession plan.

Internal Goal 2: To maintain and develop relationships and partnerships with officials and organizations which are essential to NDACo’s mission and services.

Internal Goal 3: To enhance existing, and expand, specific services in the areas of technology, human resources, education and training to better meet the needs of our members.

External Goal 1: To advance property tax reform through state funding of social services while preserving local control.

External Goal 2: To work with the state in reforming and addressing behavioral health services in North Dakota.

External Goal 3: To address present and long-term state funding in the areas of property tax relief, infrastructure, and grants for detention and court facilities improvements.

External Goal 4: To proactively address concerns related to:

  • cybersecurity and technology and
  • governmental regulatory overreach.
